Marlon Samuels : le vent du changement

  • Posté le :

If you ask anyone in the Windies whose boots they would like to fill, it’s a fair bet Marlon Samuels’ will be on top of the list.

This is a man who made his debut for his country when he was 19 and won an ODI series for WI at the age of 21. With his brilliant performance against England and New Zealand this year, this West Indian looks to be one for the books!

Brilliant stroke-play and some nifty footwork have long been Marlon's trademark. This series against New Zealand however, Marlon showed us some new colours. After a lengthy bout on the sidelines, he's marked his return to international cricket with new found maturity. On the fourth day, when the Windies were chasing a target of 206, Samuels stepped up with a crucial knock of 52 to see his team through. The break seems to have done wonders to his temperament and game play. From a hot headed player who swung at every ball, Marlon has transitioned into a more level minded, "smart" batsman. Just what the doctor ordered for the Windies!

Cricket has witnessed a number of late bloomers and with the T20 World Cup just around the corner, Marlon's peak in form couldn't have arrived at a better time. We're really looking forward to some amazing cricket from this Caribbean star!
